What is Unity Build?
Unity Build is a collaboration of local faith groups facilitated by New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. Through this collaboration, we will build a new affordable home for a hard-working New Orleans family.
Who will participate in Unity Build?
New Orleans Habitat has invited dozens of local congregations to participate. Unity Build will bring together a variety of faith groups from across New Orleans; people of different traditions, neighborhoods, and experiences will work side by side with a hard-working New Orleans family, who will purchase the house. The project is open to all, and we welcome your suggestions for additional groups to invite.
Why should we participate?
Even though we come from different traditions, we are all children of God. We believe that it is very important that people of all faiths in this city demonstrate their unity through common service, and we believe building a home is a perfect way to do so. Through laying a strong foundation - spiritual and physical - we can play an integral role in building hope in the city of New Orleans.
How can we get involved?
There are many ways to get involved! Along with financial support, all groups will be invited to participate in building on-site by providing volunteers and hospitality. Whether you can swing a hammer, wield a paintbrush, serve lunch, or bake a batch of cookies, your help will be valuable in the process. Pledges can be any size - $1,500 to $10,000 - or more! Pledges can be made now and will be due by June 30, 2023.
